The Apothecary Diaries Movie Releases New Maomao and Jinshi Trailer
A new character trailer for The Apothecary Diaries film was released on October 11, beginning four consecutive days of promotional videos ahead of its Japanese theatrical opening on December 11, 2026.
The first video centres on Maomao, Jinshi and their companions, offering additional footage from the upcoming film, subtitled Bōhi no Hihō in Japanese. Further character videos are scheduled through October 14.
The movie features an original story by series author Natsu Hyūga. Its central mystery takes Maomao and Jinshi to a city on the water, where they investigate the unusually preserved body of a consort who died five years earlier. Her final wish to return home sets the journey in motion.
The footage also features familiar supporting characters, including Gaoshun and Lakan, while introducing more of the dangers surrounding the group’s travels. The film expands the setting beyond the palace, bringing its investigation into a region troubled by pirates and rumours of hidden treasure.
The December 11 date applies to Japan. The latest trailer announcement does not confirm an international theatrical release, so audiences elsewhere are still awaiting distribution details.
