Cyberpunk: Edgerunners
In Night City, a street kid trying to survive after a personal loss falls in with a crew of mercenaries who take dangerous jobs and call themselves edgerunners.
At about 4 hours 15 minutes, its ten episodes tell one complete story at a pace that rarely lets up. A strong pick when you want a short series with a proper beginning and ending.
Chainsaw Man: Season 1
After a betrayal leaves him near death, debt-ridden devil hunter Denji is brought back with the powers of his companion, Pochita. His new life puts him to work for a government devil-hunting team.
At about 4 hours 45 minutes, season 1 gets moving quickly. The tone swings between outrageous, funny and brutal, so it suits a weekend when you are in the mood for something unpredictable.

Another
A transfer student arrives in a class shadowed by an unexplained death. As he grows closer to Mei Misaki, the strange incidents around their classmates become harder to ignore.
At about 4 hours 50 minutes, this compact school mystery has a steady stream of clues and a clear run to its finale. It is easy to finish over a weekend, especially if you like figuring out what is going on as the story unfolds.
Devilman Crybaby
When demons begin returning to the world, Akira Fudo is drawn into a violent conflict that blurs the line between humanity and the creatures it fears.
At about 4 hours 7 minutes, ten episodes carry this intense story through without a long runway. It is the darkest entry here, with graphic violence and adult material, so check the content notes before pressing play.

FLCL
Naota’s ordinary life is interrupted when Haruko, a stranger on a Vespa, crashes into town and turns his world upside down. Robots, a guitar and a lot of growing pains follow.
At about 2 hours 30 minutes, this is the quickest watch here. The original series is a compact, strange coming-of-age story you can watch on its own, without committing to the later FLCL seasons.
Dororo
A young warrior whose body was traded away to demons as a baby travels through a war-torn Japan with Dororo, a resourceful child thief. Each demon they face brings him closer to reclaiming what was taken.
At about 9 hours 35 minutes, this is one of the longer weekend picks. Its journey gives the story a natural rhythm, and Hyakkimaru and Dororo’s relationship develops into a satisfying arc along the way.

Cowboy Bebop
A crew of cash-strapped bounty hunters travels through the solar system taking jobs, chasing criminals and occasionally running into pieces of their past.
At about 10 hours 25 minutes, most episodes still work as their own adventure, so it is easy to watch a few at a time and pick it back up later. The longer story builds quietly in the background, making the full season rewarding to finish.
Death Note
Light Yagami finds a notebook that can kill anyone whose name is written in it. As he begins using it to reshape the world, a brilliant detective known as L sets out to identify him.
At about 14 hours 10 minutes, this is the biggest time commitment on the list. The cat-and-mouse story keeps raising the stakes, which makes it easy to keep watching. Start Friday if you want a real shot at finishing by Sunday.

Witch Hat Atelier: Season 1
Coco has always dreamed of becoming a witch. After meeting the travelling wizard Qifrey, she learns that magic is drawn rather than spoken and begins an apprenticeship that opens up a hidden world.
At about 5 hours 10 minutes, season 1 gives its magic system and characters room to unfold without taking over the whole weekend. A good fit if you are in the mood for thoughtful fantasy.
Takopi’s Original Sin
Takopi, a cheerful alien, arrives on Earth hoping to make people happy. His attempts to help Shizuka, a troubled child, lead him into a much heavier situation than he understands.
At about 2 hours 30 minutes, this is a short watch with serious subject matter. The bright art can be misleading, so it is better for viewers ready for a difficult story than a light weekend binge.
