Ghost: End of Night adds Kenjiro Tsuda, Hiroki Yasumoto and Hiroshi Kamiya
Kenjiro Tsuda, Hiroki Yasumoto and Hiroshi Kamiya have joined the voice cast of Ghost: End of Night, Madhouse’s original animated film from Sonny Boy director Shingo Natsume. The casting was announced on October 21, ahead of the film’s Japanese theatrical release on February 11, 2027.
Tsuda voices Moby Dick, the creator of the virtual-reality network known as the Orthoverse. He takes an interest in the protagonist Nike after transforming one of her inventions into the network’s “starry sky.” Yasumoto plays Karate, a former teacher and childhood friend of Masu who manages a department at the observatory. Kamiya voices Ito, another of Masu’s childhood friends who works at the observatory as a mental coach.
Set in a future where work is no longer necessary, the story centres on a system that decides at age 18 whether each person is considered necessary to society. Nike, an exceptional girl selected at only 15, becomes the administrator of the Orthoverse’s starry sky while searching for somewhere she belongs. Her journey brings her into contact with Masu, a man carrying profound loss. Mayu Hotta and Issey Takahashi voice Nike and Masu respectively.
Natsume directs and writes the film, with Natsume Ono providing the original character concepts and Norifumi Kugai handling character design. Madhouse produces the animation, while Ohzora Kimishima composes the score. Hitsujibungaku created six songs for the film, including its theme and insert music.
The February 11 date applies to Japan. A wider commercial release or international streaming arrangement has not been announced.
