Iruma-kun mafia spin-off sets January 4 premiere and confirms 12 episodes
Welcome to Demon School! Iruma-kun: IruMafia Edition will premiere in Japan on January 4, 2027. The October 27 announcement confirms a 12-episode run on NHK General, airing Mondays at 11 p.m. JST, with simultaneous and catch-up streaming planned through NHK ONE. A main visual and six character visuals accompanied the announcement.
The spin-off reimagines Iruma’s world around a mafia family. Its story follows a kindhearted boy living in a neighbourhood where violence and crime are commonplace. Despite his own hunger, Iruma shares food and helps others. When he saves a seriously injured elderly man, he discovers that the stranger is Sullivan, head of the Babyl organisation. Sullivan takes him in as his grandson, drawing Iruma into a new life protecting the family and learning to become its leader.
Ayumu Murase returns as Iruma, alongside Mitsuki Saiga as Opera, Daisuke Ono as Naberius Kalego, Ryohei Kimura as Asmodeus Alice, Ayaka Asai as Valac Clara and Saori Hayami as Ameri. Keiichiro Kawaguchi directs at Tatsunoko Production, with Kazuyuki Fudeyasu overseeing series composition and Kenji Fujisaki designing the characters.
The anime adapts the official spin-off manga by hiroja, based on Osamu Nishi’s original series. Its January 2027 broadcast window was announced in February; the exact premiere date and episode count are the new developments. International streaming arrangements remain unconfirmed in the announcement materials reviewed
