Blade Runner 2099 Full Trailer Reveals Prime Video’s New Replicant Story
Prime Video released the full trailer for Blade Runner 2099 on October 11 during New York Comic Con, offering the most detailed look yet at the franchise’s first live-action television series.
The eight-episode limited series stars Hunter Schafer as Cora, a fugitive who assumes the identity of a Blade Runner, and Michelle Yeoh as Olwen, a Replicant approaching the end of her life. Their characters are forced to work together while pursuing a runaway connected to information that could destabilize Los Angeles.
Set 50 years after Denis Villeneuve’s Blade Runner 2049, the series extends a screen franchise that began with Ridley Scott’s 1982 film. Both movies drew from ideas introduced in Philip K. Dick’s novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
Silka Luisa created the series and serves as showrunner. Jonathan van Tulleken directed its first two episodes, while Scott is among the executive producers through Scott Free Productions. The supporting cast includes Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham and Tom Burke.
All eight episodes will become available on Prime Video on November 25 in more than 240 countries and territories. This is a worldwide streaming release rather than a weekly rollout.
