Ryan Coogler’s X-Files Reimagining Ordered to Series at Hulu
Hulu has officially ordered Ryan Coogler’s new interpretation of The X-Files to series, moving the project beyond its pilot stage.
Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel will star as two accomplished but sharply different FBI agents. The pair form an unlikely partnership after being assigned to a long-closed division responsible for investigating unexplained phenomena.
Coogler wrote and directed the pilot and will remain an executive producer through Proximity Media. Jennifer Yale will serve as showrunner and executive producer, while original X-Files creator Chris Carter is also attached as an executive producer. Ludwig Göransson composed the pilot’s music.
The project is described as a reimagining rather than a continuation centred on Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. No returning cast members from the original series have been announced.
Created by Carter, The X-Files originally premiered in 1993 and ultimately ran for 11 seasons across its original run and two later revival seasons. It also produced two theatrical films.
The new series will stream on Hulu in the United States and Disney+ in the United Kingdom and Latin America. A premiere date, episode count and complete international release plan remain unconfirmed.
