Carrie renewed for season 2 at Prime Video
Prime Video has renewed Mike Flanagan’s Carrie for a second season. Announced on October 22, 2026, the renewal brings Flanagan back as showrunner and executive producer, with Stephen King also returning as executive producer. A premiere date has not been announced.
The continuation will take the adaptation beyond the events of King’s original novel. Flanagan previously described a three-season plan for the story, but the announcement confirms only a second season. King has publicly supported the continuation, while Flanagan has said that exploring what follows the familiar story was part of his approach from the beginning.
Summer H. Howell leads the first season as Carrie White, a sheltered teenager raised by her controlling mother, Margaret, played by Samantha Sloyan. Following her father’s death, Carrie enters public school, where bullying and the discovery of telekinetic abilities complicate an already difficult transition. The series reimagines King’s 1974 debut novel for a contemporary setting.
All eight first-season episodes debuted on October 7, 2026. The second season’s detailed plot, production schedule and returning cast have not been established in the announcements reviewed.
