Poison Ivy series in development at HBO, with Lauren LeFranc in producing talks

A television series centred on DC’s Poison Ivy is in development at HBO, with The Penguin creator Lauren LeFranc in talks to produce. Deadline, Variety and TheWrap reported the project on October 21, 2026. LeFranc’s involvement remains under negotiation, and the reports do not establish a series order.

Despite the connection to The Penguin, the proposed series would reportedly sit outside Matt Reeves’ The Batmanuniverse. LeFranc is being considered for a producing role, with no writing duties currently attached. Her involvement should therefore not be read as confirmation that she will write or run the series.

Poison Ivy, also known as Dr. Pamela Isley, was created by Robert Kanigher and Carmine Infantino. The botanist’s ability to manipulate plant life and her extreme environmental agenda have made her a recurring adversary of Batman. Previous screen portrayals include Uma Thurman in Batman & Robin, Bridget Regan in Batwoman and Lake Bell’s voice performance in the animated Harley Quinn series.

The new project’s storyline, lead casting and release date remain unannounced in the reporting reviewed. For now, this is a trade-reported development project, with its final creative team and production plans still to be established.
