Denzel Washington and Christopher McQuarrie team for new 2027 thriller

Denzel Washington will star in an untitled thriller directed by Christopher McQuarrie for United Artists and Amazon MGM Studios. The project is scheduled for a theatrical release on October 1, 2027, according to an October 20 report from Deadline.

McQuarrie is best known for directing the recent Mission: Impossible films and winning an Academy Award for writing The Usual Suspects. The new project will mark his first film with Washington.

The announcement establishes the film’s lead actor, director and release date, but significant details remain unknown. Its title, plot, supporting cast and production schedule have not been disclosed. Amazon MGM and United Artists have also not published a separate public announcement located during this check.

The project is being produced in association with Hungry Bull Productions and Mainstay Entertainment. Its October 2027 date positions it as a theatrical release rather than a directly announced Prime Video film.
