Glee revival officially ordered at Disney+ and Hulu
Glee is officially returning, with Disney+ and Hulu ordering a new incarnation of Ryan Murphy’s musical comedy. The announcement was made on October 21, 2026, more than 11 years after the original series ended its six-season run on Fox. A premiere date has not been announced.
Disney’s announcement confirms that new episodes are coming but leaves several major questions unanswered. No cast members, characters, episode count or story details have been revealed. The precise regional rollout is also unknown. Hulu will carry the series in the United States, while Disney+ is attached as its other streaming home, but international availability has not been detailed.
Murphy previously confirmed in September that he had completed a script with fellow original creators Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. He also said approximately 10 members of the original cast had reacted enthusiastically to the proposed return, although those conversations do not constitute casting announcements.
The original Glee followed the students and staff connected to William McKinley High School’s struggling show choir, New Directions. Its ensemble included Lea Michele, Matthew Morrison, Jane Lynch, Chris Colfer, Amber Riley, Kevin McHale, Jenna Ushkowitz, Darren Criss and the late Cory Monteith and Naya Rivera.
Created by Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan, the series premiered in 2009 and combined high-school drama with musical performances drawn from contemporary hits, Broadway productions and established pop classics. The revival’s creative team beyond the three creators has not been disclosed.
