I Play Rocky releases new trailer ahead of November cinema opening
Amazon MGM Studios released a second trailer for I Play Rocky on October 22, 2026, offering another look at Anthony Ippolito as a young Sylvester Stallone. Directed by Peter Farrelly, the film follows Stallone’s struggle to bring Rocky to the screen while insisting on playing its lead character himself.
The drama centres on an unknown actor facing resistance from an industry willing to buy his screenplay but reluctant to cast him. His determination to portray Rocky Balboa becomes the central conflict in a story about the making of the 1976 boxing film.
Stephan James plays Carl Weathers, with AnnaSophia Robb portraying Sasha Czack. The cast also includes Matt Dillon, P.J. Byrne, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts and Jay Duplass. Farrelly directs from a screenplay by Peter Gamble, with Toby Emmerich and Christian Baha among the producers.
I Play Rocky opens in select U.S. cinemas on November 6, 2026, before expanding later that month. Those dates describe its American theatrical rollout, not a simultaneous worldwide release. The new development is the second trailer; international release arrangements and a streaming date have not been established in the announcements reviewed.
