New Alien film in development with Prisoners writer Aaron Guzikowski
Aaron Guzikowski is writing a new Alien film for 20th Century Studios, according to industry reports published on October 23, 2026. Deadline confirmed the assignment following The Hollywood Reporter’s initial report. Guzikowski is best known for writing Prisoners and creating the science-fiction series Raised by Wolves.
Ridley Scott and Michael Pruss are producing through Scott Free. Scott is not currently attached to direct, and no director has been announced. The project reunites Scott with Guzikowski after their collaboration on Raised by Wolves.
Reporting connects the new film to Prometheus and Alien: Covenant through David, the android played by Michael Fassbender. However, Fassbender has not signed on, and the proposed connection should not be treated as a confirmed casting announcement. The project is reportedly separate from the planned Alien: Romulus sequel.
Scott had already discussed revisiting David’s story earlier this year. Guzikowski’s involvement is the new development, bringing a named screenwriter to the project. His previous film Prisoners, directed by Denis Villeneuve and starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal, was released in 2013.
No official synopsis, production start or release date has been announced. For now, this is a trade-reported film in development, with its cast and final creative team still taking shape.
