Happy Kanako’s Killer Life Gets TV Anime Adaptation for April 2027
Happy Kanako’s Killer Life, the workplace comedy manga by Tsuredure Children creator Toshiya Wakabayashi, is getting a television anime in April 2027. TOHO animation revealed the adaptation with a teaser trailer, visual, and its principal cast. The announcement arrived at midnight on October 17 in Japan, equivalent to October 16 in Trinidad and Tobago.
The story follows Kanako Nishino, an office worker who leaves an abusive employer in search of better working conditions. Her next interview unexpectedly lands her at an agency of contract killers. Despite her initial doubts, Kanako discovers an alarming talent for assassination, while her new workplace offers the pay, benefits, and time off her previous job lacked.
Hana Tamegai will voice Kanako, marking her first lead role in a television anime. Ryota Suzuki plays her senior colleague Sakurai, with Junichi Suwabe voicing the company president.
Shinji Takamatsu, whose comedy credits include Gintama, Kochikame, and Grand Blue, is directing and writing the adaptation. Studio Drive handles animation production, while Yoshiyuki Okubo serves as character designer and chief animation director.
Wakabayashi’s full-colour, four-panel manga has nine collected volumes in Japan, with Seven Seas Entertainment publishing the English edition. The property has already received a live-action adaptation starring Non and Taisuke Fujigaya, which debuted on DMM TV in 2025 and returned for a second season in September 2026.
The anime announcement confirms an April broadcast window, but an exact premiere date, episode count, and international streaming platform have yet to be detailed.
