Sekiro: No Defeat Will Air in January 2027.
Originally announced at Gamescom 2025, Sekiro: No Defeat will officially begin streaming in January 2027. Based on FromSoftware’s critically acclaimed video game, the anime will run for eight episodes, with Crunchyroll set to stream the series outside Japan, excluding Japan, China, Korea, Russia and Belarus.
For anyone unfamiliar with the game, Sekiro is set in a fictional version of Sengoku-era Japan and follows Wolf, a highly skilled shinobi sworn to protect a young lord named Kuro. After Kuro is captured by the Ashina clan, Wolf sets out to rescue him, battling samurai, monstrous creatures and supernatural enemies across a war-torn land where death is not always permanent.
Behind the adaptation is animation studio Qzil.la, with Kenichi Kutsuna directing and Takuya Satō handling the screenplay. Takahiro Kishida serves as character designer, Takashi Mukoda oversees the action animation and Shuta Hasunuma composes the music. The game’s Japanese cast also returns, including Daisuke Namikawa as Wolf, Miyuki Satō as Kuro and Kenjiro Tsuda as Genichiro Ashina.
For now, fans will have to wait a little longer for the precise release schedule and confirmation of an English dub. With eight episodes confirmed and the original Japanese cast returning, however, the anime could offer newcomers an accessible introduction to Sekiro while giving longtime players a fresh way to experience Wolf’s journey.
