Fourth Wing Reportedly Casts Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya as Violet and Xaden
Esther McGregor and Emilio Sakraya have been cast as the leads of Prime Video’s Fourth Wing adaptation, according to reports published by entertainment trades on October 15. McGregor will play Violet Sorrengail, with Sakraya starring opposite her as Xaden Riorson.
The casting was reported by Deadline, The Hollywood Reporter and TheWrap. Amazon declined to comment to TheWrap, and its official series overview had not added the actors when checked. The casting therefore remains a trade-reported development rather than a studio announcement.
Based on Rebecca Yarros’ fantasy romance novel, Fourth Wing follows 20-year-old Violet as her mother forces her into the dangerous dragon-rider programme at Basgiath War College. Her struggle to survive training becomes entangled with her relationship with Xaden, a powerful senior rider. McGregor previously appeared in Prime Video’s We Were Liars, while Sakraya’s credits include Warrior Nun and Those About to Die.
Meredith Averill, whose credits include The Haunting of Hill House and Locke & Key, is adapting the novels and serving as showrunner. Fallout executive producer Lisa Joy will direct the pilot. Yarros also executive produces, alongside a team that includes Michael B. Jordan through Outlier Society and Jonathan Nolan through Kilter Films.
Published in 2023, Fourth Wing launched Yarros’ planned five-book Empyrean series, followed by Iron Flame and Onyx Storm. Prime Video has already ordered the television adaptation, but a premiere date has not been announced.
