The Headliners Horror Game Gets Film Adaptation at Studiocanal
Studiocanal’s genre label Sixth Dimension is developing a film adaptation of The Headliners, the multiplayer horror game about journalists photographing a city under attack. Variety reported the project on October 21, 2026. It is in early development, with no release date announced.
Developed and published by KAFI, the game launched on PC on January 30, 2025. Players explore New York as mysterious creatures overrun its streets, searching for photographs dramatic enough to make the news. Teams must balance getting closer to danger with surviving long enough to bring their pictures back. Successful expeditions earn the press credentials needed to continue venturing into the city.
Sixth Dimension head Jed Benedict described the planned adaptation through comparisons with Cloverfield, Ghostbustersand Nightcrawler. His statement points toward a combination of alien-invasion horror, comedy and journalists risking their lives for compelling images. The film’s specific storyline has not been revealed, so the game’s premise remains the clearest indication of its potential direction.
No director, screenwriter or cast has been announced in the reporting reviewed. Filming dates and distribution plans also remain unconfirmed.
